For a new cat
First night with a cat? How do I set up the room?
Set up one quiet room first. Do not open the whole home on night one.
Put the litter box in a quiet corner, away from food and water. Leave fresh water where they can find it. Add one hiding place: an open carrier or a covered bed.
Pick up string, loose cords, and small things they can chew. If a plant is still in the room, check it before you leave it there. Keep human food and medication off the floor and off counters they can reach.
Hiding on night one is common. Sit on the floor. Keep the room quiet. Let them come out.
After the room is set, use Borzi to check the space you have. A small bathroom and a spare bedroom do not need the same setup.
In that room
- One quiet room. Keep the rest of the home closed.
- Litter in a quiet corner, away from food and water.
- Fresh water they can find without crossing the box.
- One hiding place: an open carrier or a covered bed.
- Clear string, loose cords, and small things they can chew.
- In Borzi, check the space you have after the room is set.
Look closer if
- They will not drink.
- They will not eat at all.
- You can see an injury.
Ask a vet if one of these shows up. This is not a diagnosis.
The answer stays free. Borzi keeps the note with your cat and can check the space you have. It does not decide the room is safe.
