For a kitten
My new kitten is hiding. What should I do?
Hiding for the first few days is normal. Do not drag them out. Put food, water, and litter near the hide and be a quiet presence.
Hiding for the first few days is a natural way to feel safe. Do not force them out from under the bed or couch.
They will come out when they feel confident enough. Rushing that usually slows them down.
How to help them adjust
- Keep food, water, and a litter box near their hiding spot so they do not cross a busy room to eat or go.
- Sit nearby quietly so they learn your scent without being picked up.
- Let them choose when to explore.
Look closer if
- They stay hidden over 24 hours and refuse all meals.
- They do not use the litter box at all.
- You cannot tell if they are breathing comfortably.
Ask a vet if one of these shows up. This is not a diagnosis.
The answer stays free. Borzi can log first meals and litter visits with your kitten. It does not decide hiding is an emergency.
