For a kitten
Why does my kitten meow at night?
Night meowing is common in a new home. Cats are most active at dusk and dawn. When the house goes quiet, they may want play, food, or company.
Night meowing is common in a new home.
Cats are crepuscular. Their bodies wake up and stay active around dusk and dawn. When you go to sleep, a kitten may want to play, eat, or feel less alone in a space they do not know yet.
Note when evening meowing happens and whether it is new. That pattern helps if you need to call a vet.
How to settle them down
- Play hard before bed. Use a wand toy right before lights out to drain energy.
- Leave safe solo toys they can chase in the dark so they do not use your toes or hands.
- Do not reward every cry. If you get up to feed or play each time they meow, they learn crying works.
Look closer if
- The crying is entirely new.
- It is non-stop.
- It comes with hiding.
- They refuse to eat.
- They have trouble breathing.
Ask a vet if one of these shows up. This is not a diagnosis.

The answer stays free. Borzi can note evening energy and feeding times with your kitten. It does not decide night meowing is a medical problem.
