For a kitten
How much should my kitten eat?
Start with a complete and balanced food labeled for kittens. If they just came home, keep the food they arrived on for a few days. A sudden switch is a common reason for loose stool.
For portion size, check the daily feeding guide on that food for your kitten's current age and weight. Divide the daily total by the number of meals.
Example: if the package says 180 g per day and your kitten eats 3 meals, start with 60 g per meal.
Wet and dry foods have different calories, so their gram amounts are not interchangeable. Check growth and body condition with your vet instead of copying another kitten's portion.
Meal times
- Under 4 months: 3 to 4 small meals a day.
- 4 to 6 months: 3 meals a day.
- 6 to 12 months: 2 meals a day.
Look closer if
- They skip meals.
- They seem weak.
- They vomit repeatedly.
- They are not gaining weight.
Ask a vet if one of these shows up. This is not a diagnosis.
The answer stays free. Borzi keeps the weight and feeding notes with your kitten. It does not set a personal feeding plan.
