For a kitten
My kitten has loose stool after a food change. What should I do?
A sudden diet change is a common cause of loose stool in kittens. Their stomach needs time to adjust.
When you change food, do it slowly over 7 to 10 days. Mix a little new food into the old food and increase the new portion a bit each day.
One soft stool during that transition, with normal eating, play, and drinking, often settles on its own. Do not give a kitten human anti-diarrhea medicine.
Note when the switch started and how the stool changed day to day. That timeline helps if you call a vet.
Look closer if
- Diarrhea lasts more than 24 hours.
- You see blood.
- They are under 4 months old and seem tired.
- They stop eating or drinking.
Ask a vet if one of these shows up. This is not a diagnosis.

The answer stays free. Borzi can log diet changes and litter consistency with your kitten. It does not decide the food caused the stool.
